Yorkshire Comedy Comes to Knutsford Civic Centre
A taste of Yorkshire humour comes to Knutsford Civic Centre this weekend. April in Paris by Hull-based playwright John Godber comes to Toft Road as one of the Spring offerings from the Cheshire Rural Touring Network.
Set in 1985, Bet and Al lead humdrum lives in their small Yorkshire home until Bet wins a "Romantic Breaks" magazine competition, a holiday for two in Paris. Panic - they have never been abroad before! The trip changes the way they view the world and each other once they return home. They sample French cuisine, wrestle with their phrase book, and fend off muggers on the Metro in this hilarious, heart-warming depiction of the English abroad.
The production will be staged by the Ratatat Theatre Company. Manager Dominic Goodwin, who plays Al, says: "Being a classic Godber relationship comedy, there's always lots of nudging and giggling and we hear the words ‘That's you, that is', coming up from the audiences all the time!"
Tickets for April in Paris, on Sunday 29 March, 7.30pm, cost £6 from 01565 633005.
